You’re engaged! Congratulations! Now it’s time to start planning your wedding. The first step is to choose the location, where will your wedding be? If you’re lucky enough to live in New England, then you will have your choice of beautiful, scenic venues. One of the most picturesque places for a wedding in New England is New Hampshire.

New Hampshire offers a wide variety of wedding venues from the Great North Woods to the beautiful beaches of the Seacoast. The hard decision will be choosing which part of New Hampshire will be host to your special day. Here are three tips to help you plan your New Hampshire wedding:

  1. Plan Ahead, Far Ahead — While New Hampshire has a wide variety of great wedding venues, they book up quickly. You should plan on reserving your venue at least 6-8 months in advance. Some NH wedding venues book up over a year in advance, so by planning early you will have more locations to choose from.
  2. Buy A Planner — You don’t need to buy a big, bulky, and expensive wedding portfolio planner, but you will need at least a notebook with a pocket folder. Planning a wedding is a major event and there will be a lot of moving pieces you will need to keep together. From phone numbers, to menus, to color samples, you will have piles of information you will need to keep organized.
  3. Things Will Go Wrong– Planning a wedding anywhere, let alone New Hampshire, requires a lot of coordination and planning, and can become quite stressful. And sometimes not everything will work out as you planned. But don’t let this stress ruin the experience of planning out one of the most memorable days of your life. Stay positive and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.

By starting early and staying organized, you’ll reduce your stress and keep your options open. If you can, do lots of online research, there great resources online to help you plan your wedding from those who have great experience doing so. One great venue in New Hampshire is Church Landing (now known as Mill Falls at the Lake), in Meredith New Hampshire.
